It's been five days since my aunt laying unmoved in the hospital in a
critical condition. She's gotten into kidney failure due to advance
stage of cervical cancer she's been fighting for one year. My family
have been doing almost everything to have her health back, but now we
have to face this bitter reality. There's nothing we can do more,
except only for one thing. Let her go.
Now, as my family gathered in her room, sharing strength and prayer,
embracing my uncle and cousins, my mind recall all memories of her
I've been keeping for all of these years.
She's always been a perfect potray of what I called great wife, and a
loving mother. And I know that she's a really good friend to my uncle.
I see it in their eyes when they shared jokes one to another, when
they passing kisses as if they're in their seventeen. I see it when my
uncle called her in her nickname. "Conil", it is.
In my eyes, she's a good example of classic beauty. Rarely I saw her
in full makeup yet she's always look beautiful, just with a sheer
touch of lipstick. Maybe it is what we say beauty comes from within. I
never saw her in anger. Her face always full of smile, her voice
always so soft and warm. This brought her as a favorite teacher among
many of her students. Never heard a single curse spoken out of her
mouth. Not even when she fell very ill. Great woman indeed she is,
even though she's not a good cook. But the last thing is not a great
deal to us. For she's been a very good mother for us, for she's been
one good reason for the rest of us to be a good person in this hard
life. And I believe this is what she will always be remembered as.
So, everyone has their own place and time. And this is our time to let
her go, to say good bye. May Allah SWT bless her soul, and may us
being given the strenght to go on.
Until we meet again, Budhe.
